What is a Variable Frequency Drive?
A variable frequency drive is an electronic device that allows you to start, stop, and control the speed of a three phase motor. It is also a motor starter as it is equipped with overload protection. Read more »
What is the difference between a 'new surplus' motor and a 'factory new' motor?
Our New Surplus electric motors and drives are new and unused overstock or discontinued items offered at lower prices and come with our 90-day warranty.

Factory New products are competitively priced and come with a manufacturers warranty.
Variable frequency drives (VFDs or inverters) now play an important part in major industry.
Within the last 10 years they have been perfected to control and vary the speed of 3 phase electric motors. They serve many purposes, besides speed control. Homeowners and hobbyist alike, who have lathes or milling machines with a 3 phase motor, usually don't have 3 phase power to operate. These VFDs (instead of using a rotary phase converter) can now be used to convert single phase power to 3 phase power. Read more »

Flowserve IPS Tempo Pump Control Variable Frequency Drive
New Surplus with 90 day warranty & printed user manual

An Intelligent Pumping System That is Easy to Use

IPS TEmpo is a variable frequency drive (VFD), Reliance model GV6000 that has been custom programmed or pre-engineered to provide end users with advanced pump system optimization, control and protection.

Implementation of IPS Temp into a pump system is made easier because of the special Operator Interface Module (OIM) that had been designed specifically for pumps.  The OIM has an intiutive menu driven structure that makes it easy to implement the pump optimization features.  Variable inputs are in units common to pump users.

The Flowserve IPS Tempo is pre-engineered specifically for pumps, making the benefits of variable frequency drive (VFD) technology more accessible to pump users. By incorporating pump-specific system optimization software, an industrial grade AC drive and intuitive menu-driven user interface, IPS Tempo offers protection, reliability and ease of use not possible with other variable frequency drives. Most importantly, IPS Tempo enables end users to lower their total cost of pump ownership.

Pump Optimization and Protection in a Fraction of the Time

With immensely complex manuals and hundreds of different programmable parameters, the set-up and configuration of a typical variable frequency drive is a daunting task. Even experienced users require considerable time to set up a standard AC drive. That’s not the case with IPS Tempo. With the most common pump-specific parameters (capacity, head, etc.) built in and its pump-specific Quick-Start set-up wizard, a typical user can configure IPS Tempo in less than 30 minutes – a fraction of the time it would take to set up a typical VFD. That means easier, faster and more reliable implementation.

Benefits of IPS Tempo

  • Unique pump-specific user interface
  • Quick-start set-up and configuration
  • Pre-engineered pump protection features
  • Industrial grade VFD
  • Soft-start and soft-stop capability
