Homeowners and hobbyist alike, who have lathes or milling machines with a 3 phase motor, usually don't have 3 phase power to operate. Adjustable motor bases are used to mount motors so that the alignment and belt tensions can be easily adjusted. Transition bases are used to mount new motors on mounts that were designed for older obsolete motor frames.
